Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection ‘F’ – Movie Review

Official Synopsis: One peaceful day on Earth, two remnants of Frieza’s army named Sorbet and Tagoma arrive searching for the Dragon Balls with the aim of reviving Frieza. They succeed, and Frieza subsequently seeks revenge on the Saiyans.

Review Summary: Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection ‘F’ aims to touch my nostalgia for my favorite saga in all of DBZ, the Frieza arc. It mostly succeeds with lush animation, terrific fight scenes and Akira Toriyama’s signature off-color humor. I had a blast seeing many of my favorite characters on the big screen again, and continue to be impressed with the franchise’s resilience. I did feel, however, that this film was considerably more conventional than Battle of Gods, with a far more clichéd DBZ storyline we’re used to seeing, and a disappointing ending. Despite falling back on traditional DBZ clichés, Resurrection ‘F’ features enough beautifully animated butt-kicking to warrant a watch.
