Elysium – Movie Review

Neill Blomkamp’s return to the realm of science fiction is most welcomed. How is Matt Damon? Does it compare to District 9? Hit the jump to watch my full review…

Official Synopsis: In the year 2154, the very wealthy live on a man-made space station while the rest of the population resides on a ruined Earth. A man takes on a mission that could bring equality to the polarized worlds.

Review Summary: There are two visions of the future frequently embraced by filmmakers. That of the clean and sleek look of perfection displayed in films like 2001: A Space Odyssey, and that of the dirty, grungy appearance of the Star Wars universe. Neill Blomkamp has chosen the latter for his exciting futuristic adventure, Elysium. Anchored by a strong performance from Matt Damon, and an evil turn from Sharlto Copley, this film is a fast-paced, visually appealing sci-fi actioner, that goes places your typical summer blockbuster chooses not to.
