Gangster Squad – Movie Review

Gangster Squad features one of the best casts of the year. Check out my full video review after the jump…

Official Synopsis: Los Angeles, 1949: A secret crew of police officers led by two determined sergeants work together in an effort to take down the ruthless mob king Mickey Cohen who runs the city.

Review Summary: Gangster Squad is a visually impressive movie, with fun performances that evoke the mysticism of 1940’s LA. Penn chews up scenery, Gosling boils and Brolin stews. Where the film lacks is in it’s script, which doesn’t tie everything together coherently.

Grade: B+

Starring: Sean Penn, Ryan Gosling, Josh Brolin, Nick Nolte, Robert Patrick
Directed by: Ruben Fleischer
MPAA Rating: R for strong violence and language
Run Time: 113 min.
