The Smurfs 2 – Movie Review

I loathed the first. The second has got to be better right? RIGHT? Hit the jump to watch my full review…

Official Synopsis: The Smurfs team up with their human friends to rescue Smurfette, who has been kidnapped by Gargamel since she knows a secret spell that can turn the evil sorcerer’s newest creation – creatures called the Naughties – into real Smurfs.

Review Summary: When it comes to critiquing films specifically tailored for children, there’s always something important to keep in mind. How does this film view children? With respect? Youngsters ready to have their creativity enhanced by the wonder and imagination displayed on the screen? Or as little things that can beg their parents to spend money on all of the gadgets and products they see? The Smurfs 2 panders to children, offering nothing more than a series of fart jokes and pratfalls, for the obvious purpose of cashing in on an already established fan base. It’s family entertainment at it’s worst.
