Vampire Academy – Movie Review
Yet another vampire film based off a book series? Hit the jump to watch my full review…
Official Synopsis: Rose Hathaway is a Dhampir, half human/vampire, guardians of the Moroi, peaceful, mortal vampires living discretely within our world. Her legacy is to protect the Moroi from bloodthirsty, immortal Vampires, the Strigoi. This is her story.
Review Summary: It seems it’s impossible to go even a few months without another film adaptation of a young-adult book series that involves supernatural romance coming into theaters. This one comes off as a cross between Twilight, Harry Potter and Mean Girls. In fact, the director of the latter helmed Vampire Academy, a film that attempts to satire the popular love triangle romances of the current day, yet falls into the same tired cliches of said films. On top of that, the stuntwork and camera angles during the fight scenes make it painfully obvious that the actors are essentially shadow boxing. It all looks terrible.
